Entry for August 02, 2008 A Day Off

I keep looking at that beach that I have pictured on my last blog and keep wondering why I am not there.

I am taking two days off in the middle of next week and am contemplating going up to Flagstaff all by my self and get out of here. Flag is about a 3000 feet height than I am and only gets to high 80''s in the summer and that is where all the rain is. They have an old town that sort of reminds me of the village in Manhattan where I use to live.

Just roam around, have a little lunch, me and all the tourists from Phoenix, but who cares. I think it should be fun. All on my own, no one to answer to. Not bad.

Maybe I can find a picture. Well the only picture I can seem to find of Flagstaff old town is the old train station which is basically the center of old town. The station must date back to at least the turn of the century, that would be the 20th. The tracks run parallel to Old Route 66 which still does exist in some parts of Arizona and New Mexico. Very cool.

I traveled cross country with my family when I was 17/ From New Jersey to Los Angeles. We picked up route 66 in Indianapolis and didn't leave it till we got to Flagstaff two days before the 4th of July. It Snowed. Only in Flag could this happen. Never thought I would be back.

Well those are my thoughts for the evening. I can't believe I am even doing this. Guess I miss the old neighborhood.

Have a good Sunday everyone.
