Havalinas

Put in a new photo of the Havalinas. I had copied this from Yahoo. Don't think the picture took. So I have put in one on Multiple with a little editing. Mom and babe. This was actually taken by a friend in her back yard. Wish I had the camera close at hand the other morning.

Tammy glad you got such a hoot out of them and they most certainly are rodents. Just big ones. I guess you sorted that out.

Happy Sunday. I am off to watch The Wrestler. Just got finished with Frost/Nixon. Great movie. I highly recommend seeing it.

Big Surprise

Entry for May 08, 2009/ Nice Surprise
Entry for May 08, 2009/ Nice Surprise magnify

What a little surprise for me and the kitties this morning.

I woke at six as usual and went straight to the back door to let the fur ones out for their morning romp ( in my enclosed yard of course) and I took myself off to the john. When I came out I realized that the cats were not outside they were all huddled by the door or as I found out when I went into the front of the house , high on counters looking strangely out of the window. When I joined them to my surprise I found a whole herd of havelina in our front yard. All of about the size of the large one in this picture. No giant daddies, just seemed like about 10 - 12 teen agaers. All roaming the front yard looking for goodies. Now I don't think any of my kitties except maybe Thomas and Rosie have ever seen anything like these guys because when our beloved Jakie was here he use to chase them away. He loved nothing better than barking his head off at havelinas, especially those big old daddy guys. Now a big old daddy guy has hugh tusks that could tear my Jakie to bits but as long as there was a fence in between it didn't matter. Jake was the killer of lenas ( as I call them).

Everything has calmed down now. When the lenas heard me in the kitchen ooohing and ahhhing then waddled away down the hill looking for more food and water. If you don't know anything about these strange creatures you will be surprised to know they are not wild pigs they are pecuries ( oh the spelling) giant rodents. They eat greens, roots, things like that. They are very fond of tomatoes, as people who have tried to grow them around here have found out the hard way. Unless you have a fence around your garden it is a goner. The bad part about them is they are very strong and very protective of their families. A big daddy Havelina can kill and dog or even tear up a person when they have babes in tow. My next door doggie, Jasper, found that out the hard way when one day he decided to chase a mom and babe. He is ok now but we thought we were going to lose him. A little beagle is no match for a pissed off lena mommy.

So this is how my morning started how is yours doing?

Have a good one.

Entry for May 07, 2009

Just a nice photo of the Atlantic Ocean from my most recent vacation to my sister's in North Carolina.

I know don't faint, I am actually blogging on 360. Hope all my old friends are still here. I decided to visit one of them today because I hadn't been here in a while and I remember how much I missed this place and all my friends and all the fun we had.

It is still driving me crazy trying to post comments and waiting for things to kick in. Is it just me? I guess I will need to find other things to do when this happens.

Things have been rough since Jake died, and I really haven't been blogging much any where but time goes on and I realize that we must get on with our life. I was really happy being able to finally get back east to get with friends and family. I will try and get some more pics up later today.

Ok here is my vent for the day. Why do so many people want to deprive so many other people from being happy. I am speaking of Gay Marriage bills finally starting to go through in many states and good for them. But what is with these homophobes who just can't let well enough alone. Why do they care who gets married. They the only allowed to be with the ones they love. Who died and left them king? Get over yourselves people. If it's a religous thing, hey remember God is Love, ok. IF not then what the hell is your problem. Let these bills pass, no veto, just let them go throught and I think we need to just make it a national thing. Everyone should be allowed to be happy. If it is the fear of the unknown that moves these people (homophobics) then hey go meet a gay person and talk to them. Ya know walk in there shoes for a while.

Ok that's it for my first blog back on 360. Have to visit around later and see how you all are doing. Those that didn't move to Multiply that is or My Space or whatever.

Have a good day

Vacation

Well I have finally gotten around to posting my vacation pics. You will find the album if you click on View All. I don't know why I can't get all my albums to show at one time...but...oh well.

Just had the best time. Weather coudn't have been better. We went out on Jim's boat, that was a blast. They live two blocks away from the Pamlico river which goes out to the  Outer Banks and the Atlantic Ocean. Can't wait till we do that.

Any way enjoy the pictures. I managed to get sick as soon as I got home and doing all this posting has really taken it out of me. so I am going to lie down.
