Multiply

Even though I may not be here very much these days, the thought of Multiply not being here any more really bothers me.

It was our refuge when 360 bite the big one and it now holds every blog I ever posted 360 and Multiply. What will happen to those if they dump the US. I sure hope they can sort that out.

and what will happen to the friends who have Not "embraced" FB. I know I will miss them.

Well that is my thought for the day. What about yours.

Susan

  1. I don't have a backup plan and will miss Multiply if the bloggers are given the boot.

  2. Hi Susan..nice cool weekend ahead of us......Do you think Multiply will go away?

ha..Did I tell you that one of the cats at the rescue freaked out when I took it our of the cage to clean it....clawed up my arm and rebounded off my stomach and got away. omg..Poor thing...I finished my work there but hadda go to emergency and get antibiotics and a tetanous shot.....They usually put the feral cats in the back and the experienced paid employees deal with them...I feel bad for the poor cat...;They are already scared when they come to the shelter and worst when they are cooped up in a cage with strangers...;-(

  3. Hey Vickie, very sorry to hear that. for you and the kitty. It is such a wonderful thing you are doing.
I am sitting in the house right now appreciating the nice cool "breeze" that is whipping through. Guess mom nature is giving us a little reprive before the real bad stuff comes.
Astra posted a blog from the new CEO of Multiply that said they were looking to expand in the areas they are really popular, like Indonesia, what? Who knows, I hope they don't. I like it here for the occasional blog time and I really would miss people who haven't come to FB.

  4. have you tried FB. As much as I am not thrilled with being there it does have a lot of the old friends from 360 and Multiply. I hope Multiply stays in the US, would be a real shame to see it go.

  5. One of the deals with FB is that there are alot of families hooked up on FB so all the ppl who want to be a little off color, don't feel comfortable going there....Thatz what I think anyways....I don't think Multiply will go anyways.....hope not anyways..Ya, I still have my house open..it's 80 in here but tolerable and a nice breeze, ya!

I wasn't freaked out about the cat thing at the rescue and it didn't really hurt after the initial attack! lolol I love being there Susan...It's not a sad place, even though it's kinda lacking in ambiance lol.....the ppl there are exactly like you, loving and dedicated and will do anything to save a life, anything...Most of the ppl that work or volunteer have like 8 dogs, permanent or fosters...;-)

  6. Everyone has a backup plan...lol...some are sharing,,some are not...I'm hoping multiply hangs around for a little longer, but if it doesn't we will find each other in a new spot..just as we did before!

  7. FB is fine for a quick 'hello'.....but it really is not a good place for bloggers. i honestly don't know what i will do if we are asked to leave Multiply.

  8. you are probably right. There is always blogspot, where I have been known to go, but it is so hard to keep up with people there, but who knows.

  11. Remember Astra, well he posted a blog from the new CEO of Multiply about how they were thinking of concentrating their efforts in the areas they are strong in, namely Indonesia and assorted Asian areas. Freaked me out. So she ( the CEO) also stated they would keep us posted. So I guess we just have to watch our INBox. Sure hope it is a lot of garbage.

  14. I wanted to create a replacement for Multiply, offering the features of Multiply that most use, blogging, personal messaging, video sharing, photo sharing, etc. That way, we all simply move away from Multiply and not worry about them wanting to create the best social shopping site in Indonesia and the Philippines. That is what they want to do, they don't want to have a social networking site; so all us social networking members should just leave. We should create our own social site and just leave Multiply to do whatever they want to do.

I may go ahead and start building the new site; I am sure that most of my contacts will be willing to join.

  15. Multiply started this rumour two years ago when they started the marketplace; and sold 80% of the company to Naspers. Then they reinforced it by completely selling out and moving to Indonesia with a NEW CEO in Indonesia.

  16. Yes, because it is just for blogging, it is not a social network. You can link and such but it is not really meant to be a social site, it is a site for people to set up a blog and blog.

  17. I think it must cost a ton of money to run a social site like this-look at all the stuff they save on their servers just for us-and all for free, they need to pay for all this somehow and make money besides-I like the marketplace idea cause those interested can use it and those not interested don't have to use it-and it generates money for them to keep this site running

  18. unlike fb that tracks our computers to see where they go and then sets up advertisers on our pages according to places we visit online-I don't like that at all-that's why I deleted myself over there on fb-took awhile for them to delete my site but they did it finally

  19. Well is Multiply a blog site or a social networking site?
I am on FB, so....so much for social networking. I guess I like the being able to talk longer and then get input, hence "social networking" I guess.

  20. I am on blooger or blogpost with google, they don't have the notes feature which I really like over there, but I have learned the people I am interested in I have on my page in my blog list and I set it to be listed in order as newest posted-can use it like multiplys inbox that way

  21. My idea was to have it owned and supported by the members since going out and trying to get advertisers means having a sales team. It is hard to tell how many real members are here at Multiply outside of the marketplace. Members that are willing to pay to join, and thus not have adverts and such, such as the Premium users here could probably pay for the site. You have to remember that I am not talking about a huge profit off of the site, such is the purpose of Multiply and Facebook and MySpace and all the other sites. It would be supported by the users as to just pay the bills, not make millions or billions of dollars.

  22. Tracking cookies :-). The only cookie that needs to be set is a session cookie that keeps you logged into the system.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree I am so against those tracking cookies, google gives us an option in our settings to opt out of that which I am happy about, I stopped having sites remember me now-I just log on each time

  24. Yes, Multiply is being moved to Indonesia. The biggest amount of users are there and they're mostly sellers on the Marketplace thing. I think the plan is to turn Multiply completely into a social e-commerce platform and there will be no place for bloggers...

  25. Wow, unlike so many, straightforward and heartfelt without whining about it, props.

  26. Might be a hold out from the early 360s. But I just like the exchange here. Facebook, well I am there, and posting more day by day. But I still like the one on one here more. Funny thing about facebook is that everyone seems to be there. I just meet up with two people I have not seen in almost 30 years. Now That I have met up with them again, I have sent them here to see what life has been through out all these years. It is all good and I love my friends here on multiply. Thank you.
