Entry for October 12, 2007 Goldie Who Was the New Dog

Last August I adopted "the new dog" Goldie from my neighbor down the street. Poor Gold was such a wreck when I got her and really old , 14 and a half to be exact, that I never thought she would last very long.

Well I was wrong, I just realized that my Goldie has been in the family for over a year now and she is so happy. Loves the kitties and really Loves her red Jake dog. Sometimes she has trouble getting around because she tends to walk into things. Then sometimes she does forget where she is in relation to space and stands and stares out into it.

I just love her so much and am very glad that we were able to give her a stable home. Stable in that she is not going anywhere, because there is nothing stable about the gang in this house.

Happy year and something to you Goldie, my Old Gold. Sure hope there are more.

Entry for October 12, 2007/ Everything after '72 Was a Blurr

What was going on in your life ....

1) 25 years ago:

This really is going to be a wee bit difficult for me as much of my life during this time was really a blur. At this time in my life I was working in the rock and roll business for a guitar company, most likely dating my longlasting boy friend David, who was a roadie and was on the road all the time. And doing a great many drugs which is why it is hard for me, seriously, to remember exactly what was going on. I know I sure was having a good time meeting famous rock stars and traveling the country. It was fun, glad I survived. Some where in between 25 and 20 My dad passed away, not a good time, but we don't dwell.

2) 20 years ago:

My life had started to be integrated into spending a great deal of time hanging out in my neighborhood which is the gay meca of NYC. Since David was pretty much out of my life and I was just drifting along, I drifted into hanging out in gay bars, but we all had started noticing that many of our friends were sick and dying and no one was quite sure why, they hadn;t quit come up with a name for it yet. But we all knew there was something really bad going on.

3) 15 years ago:

I had just started my career as a massage therapist and I guess this is 1992 and my mom had passed away the year before, more things not to dwell on and my two best friends had left new york for Switzerland and Arizona and every one else I knew was dropping dead around me, dear very old friends at one point it was like three a month. I was in heavy depression, when I wasn't working I was in bed with my face to the wall or drinking myself into oblivion, really not a good time.

4) 10 years ago:

Well 10 years ago I decided to change my life. The Aids epidemic had slowed down, the few close friends I had left were hanging in there with the new drugs that came out, people were doing better but I was very alone and when I had the opportunity to change things I took my massage practice and moved to Arizona, where one of my old friends was now living, who I obviously missed very much. What a shock from NYC to the high desert small town living.

5) 5 years ago:

Basically doing the same thing I was doing yesterday, working ,working working, I had started building a nice practice and was enjoying the beauty of where I live. The draught really hadn;t kicked in yet so it was still nice here. I believe that when you are young is the time to play, which I did. So now I am working my butt off, I wish.

bonus: 1 year ago

Again the same as today except I am now so sick of Arizona I can't wait to get out of here(this is one year ago) and I turned 60 which is a big change in the old life, I don't mind it though keeps things interesting. So one year from now (today) I guess we will see where I am.

Entry for October 08, 2007/ Calm and peaceful week to all

There was no art this sunday. I seem to be running out of steam with Art Sunday. I either can't think of anything to post or when I get a great idea I can't find anything on line to back it up with. If any one has any suggestions for good art sites please let me know. The ones I go to now just don't seem to cover what I am looking for.

We have the new doggie in our family and Charlie is working out just great. He belonged to a good friend who just couldn't keep him any more and since I have known and loved him for many years it just seemed right that he should come and live with our well established group. every one seems to be getting along just fine except our old Goldie who just doesn't seem to quit trust him. I am sure eventually she will learn to trust him. He just loves every one.

Finally it is time for the heat to come on around here. I never thought it would happen. Arizona just seems to be nothing but hot now. Not right for where I live in the north. The leaves are starting to fall and it is chilly getting the paper in the morning. I am going hiking this coming Friday to a beautiful spot in Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona. I have never been there before and it is suppose to be beautiful in the fall. The creek runs right through the area, I will take lots of pictures and maybe post them for a nature art thing on Sunday.

Well the week is just starting and I hope it is a good one for all. keep warm or keep cool depending on which side of the planet your on.

Entry for October 04, 2007October Adopt a Dog Month and the 4th International Animal Day

I found out today the it was International Animal Day thanks to my friends Milli and Nicholas. You would think I would have known this being the animal lover that I am. But our brains must have been in the same place because I had planned on posting The October Adopt a Dog Month notice today. Give it a look, and since I hate to not practice what I preach please notice the very handsome Dalmatian in the picture, that is Charlie and he just came to live with us this past Saturday. He is now a member of our family. He was off to Dalmatian rescue if the family hadn't stepped in. Remember all the poor shelter doggies out there who could use to have their lives saved and find a furever home.
